Yria Bar Alykes Zakynthos
Comfortable and relaxing the Yria cocktail and snack bar is the ideal place to relax after a day on the beach with easy listening music it has a great atmosphere. Open from the morning until late, The bar serves breakfasts lunchtime snacks and a large variety of freshly made delicious crepes.
Try one of the exciting cocktails or a freshly squeezed fruit juice with plenty to choose from along with a large selection of both bottled and draught beers as well as spirits and wines it is THE place to spend your time throughout your holiday.
History of the bar
English: Venetian bridge over Alykes river, Alykes, Zakynthos, Greece. The bridge was built under Venetian domination times in Zakynthos (approx. 17th to 18th century). Yria cafe was established in 1998 and opened for business on the 3rd of May of the same year. The proprietor of Yria Cafe is Vassilis Pouliezos.
The building is constructed in traditional Zakynthian style using the traditional colors and a mix of textures including Bordeaux, natural shades of brown, traditional stone and wood. It uses lighting in a subtle way to create a relaxing inviting environment. We are thankful to the artist Adigoni Gioka for her contributions to the interior design where her artwork is displayed.
The name Yria is taken from the ancient history of the island. Yria according to the ancient Greek historian Plinios was the ancient Greek name for the island.
This information is taken from the ancient Greek poet Homer who calls Zakynthos Ilyessa. Also the name Yria was that of the area that since WWII has been known as Katastari. Part of the beauty from the era of Homer we try to recreate in the present day at Yria Cafe.
